Eurovision Young Musicians

Eurovision Young Musicians will take place on 17 August 2024 in Bodø, Norway hosted by NRK during the city’s tenure as European Capital of Culture.

Eurovision Young Musicians 2022

Eurovision Young Musicians celebrated its 40th anniversary at the Festival Radio France Occitanie Montpellier on Saturday 23 July 2022. The event was Produced by Morgane Productions for France Télévisions and involved 9 EBU Members who each brought a talented young classical musician to the show. The competition was won by Czech TV’s violinist Daniel Matejča for a brilliant performance from Shostakovich’s 1st violin concerto.

Daniel received a performance opportunity at the 2023 Festival Radio France Occitanie Montpellier which will take place between 15-30 July 2023 within the 39th edition of the festival. He will perform in a professional context including a public venue, concert promotion, technical rehearsal, a gross fee of 1000 EUR, as well as travel and accommodation costs. 

The second place prize went to Germany's Philipp Schupelius and the third place prize to Norway's Alma Serafin Kraggerud.

More about the event

The contest has been held every two years since 1982. It is an international classical music event aimed at offering the broadest possible stage to talented young classical musicians and helping them embark on an international career. Previous winners of the Eurovision Young Musicians competition have gone on to enjoy huge success on the world-stage, and include Julian Rachlin (violin), Natalie Clein (cello) and Eivind Holtsmark Ringstad (viola).

The first Eurovision Young Musicians (EYM) was held in Manchester (UK) on 11 June 1982. Since then it has been held six times in Vienna, twice in Cologne and Switzerland (Geneva, Lucerne) and once each in Copenhagen, Amsterdam, Brussels, Warsaw, Lisbon, Bergen and Berlin.
