Alexandra Cooreman

Alexandra Cooreman will represent Belgium at Eurovision Young Musicians 2018 playing the violin.

The 15-year-old Alexandra was born in Brussels in 2003 and is from both Belgian and Polish descent. Around the age of five, she began to play the violin at the Academy of Music, Dance and Speech Arts Berchem-Sainte-Agatha. In 2012, Alexandra gave a public performance with the Orchestre de Chambre de Waterloo directed by Ulysse Waterlot and in 2013, she participated in an international competition called Bravo!. She also won the first Grand Prize of the Fondation Arthur Grumiaux and the Prize Bärenreiter. Besides these victories, Alexandra became the Absolute Laureate of the Kocian Violin Competition in the Czech Republic.
In 2014, she became the First Laureate category A at the Music Competition Breughel, and she played in the Czech Republic with The Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra Pardubice under the direction of Petr Louzensky. In the same year, Alexandra played several concerts with Orchestre Royal de Chambre de Wallonie and at the Christmas Concert in the Royal Palace in Belgium, directed by Franck Braley. In April 2015, Alexandra was selected for Augustin Dumay’s public masterclasses at the Foundation Louis Vuitton in Paris. The foundation of the internationally known fashion brand aims to promote and support contemporary artistic creation for a wide French and international audience.
In April 2016, Alexandra participated in the Masterclass of Augustin Dumay which was recorded by The Masterclass Media Foundation. She performed solo with the Gulbenkian Orchestra Lisbon, conducted by Augustin Dumay and in 2016 and 2017 she participated in the International Academy of Music of Yuri Bashmet in Sochi, Russia. In March 2017, she was selected by the public Masterclass of Guiliano Carmignola.
Since 2013, Alexandra has been studying at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel under the direction of Augustin Dumay and Tatiana Samouil.
