Tamir Naaman-Pery

Tamir Naaman-Pery will represent Israel at Eurovision Young Musicians 2018 playing the cello.

The 18-year-old Tamir Naaman-Pery was born in 1999 and began studying the cello at the age of nine at the Karmiel Music Conservatory. Since 2013, Tamir has been participating in many projects and courses on behalf of the Jerusalem Music Center Mishkenot Sha'ananim, including The Young Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, The David Goldman Program for Outstanding Young Musicians, and The Huberman Project in collaboration with the Heifetz International Music Institute.
He has attended summer courses at the Rubin Academy of Music and Dance in Jerusalem and the Perelman Music Program. He also took part in various music festivals around the world. In the summer of 2016 he performed as a soloist and as the leader of the cello section with the Karmiel Conservatory Orchestra in Mets, France. In the following summer, he participated in the 8th International Youth Music Festival in Bratislava, Slovakia. This year he will participate in the international classical music festival Clasclas, in Galicia, Spain under the artistic direction of Guy Braunstein.
Tamir took part in several master classes from leading cellists from Israel and abroad, including Gary Hoffman, Frans Helmerson, Hans Jorgen Jensen, Orfeo Mandozzi, Hillel Zori, Michal Korman, and Shmuel Magen.
He received several scholarships from the Jerusalem Music Center Mishkenot Sha'ananim, the Zefunot Culture organization for Music and Arts, and the America-Israel Cultural Foundation for the year 2017-2018.
Tamir studies with Israeli cellist Prof. Zvi Plesser, Head of the String Department of the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance.
