Following an open call for candidates to apply, 11-year old pianist Dmitry Ishkhanov has been chosen to represent the Mediterranean island by national broadcaster PBS.
Born in Moscow but having moved to Malta just three years later, Dmitry started playing piano aged four with his babysitter. He made his stage debut just two years later at the Malta Cultural Institute, and by the age of eight had already assed the first five grades for piano of the he Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music in the UK. Despite his young age, Dmitry has already performed with the WDR Orchestra at the Philharmonic in Cologne, symphonic orchestra “Duchi d'Acquaviva”, the National Chamber Orchestra of Armenia, New Philharmonie Westfalen Orchestra and the NRW chamber orchestra in Germany.
Currently Dmitry is furthering his musical studies at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz in Cologne, Germany under the guidance of teacher Lolita Poghosyan, and consultant professor Nina Tichman. In addition to music, Dmitry also loves learning languages and is fluent in Russian, English, German and Spanish.
