"One of my happiest moments was when I received first prize in the Polstjärnepriset competition in Sweden" - Eliot Nordqvist

Eliot was born in Stockholm in March 1999 and began playing the piano at the age of four. By eight he was composing his own work before going on to study music professionally. At the age of twelve he received "Mai von Rosen Scholarship award" from The Royal Swedish Academy of Music.

Eliot has won several awards including third prize at the Steinway festival in Stockholm (2010) and Copenhagen (2012), third prize and first prize in piano at the Stockholm International Music Competition (SIMC 2012 & 2014), first prize in guitar performances 2012 & 2014 and a composition award for interpretation and best performance of contemporary music at SIMC 2012. He won the right to represent Sweden

When asked about his favourite composer he doesn't have one in particular. "It depends on the composition I am working with at a particular time. I change my favourite composer, so call are my favourites really. Just now I'm working on Appassionata by Beethoven as well as Gaspard de la nuit by Ravel". In his spare time he enjoys reading, "my current favourite is The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas by John Boyne", he says.

One of his happiest experiences was when he received first prize at the Polstjärnepriset competition held in Gothenburg's Concert Hall in 2015. This gave him the opportunity to represent Sweden in Eurovision Young Musicians. He is also at his happiest when he performs his own work on stage.
